Fulfilling a critical need

MedFirst was established as a company when its President and CEO, Brian Smith, noticed a need in the health care market for people who knew technology. As hospitals started to adopt electronic health records and update their health care information technology, Brian was there to provide them with an understanding of all the latest advances.

Early on, MedFirst focused its services on the "Go-Live" process. This process involved helping hospitals choose a health care information technology, educating hospital staff on its use, and launching the new system. This is still a large part of what MedFirst does. But, over time, MedFirst has expanded its services to include implementation – that is, coaching hospital clerical and clinical staff in using their new health care IT system post-launch. MedFirst also offers other services like ICD-10 strategy and implementation, meaningful use compliance, and more.

Today, MedFirst works with health care organizations of all sizes across the United States, partnering them with the most knowledgeable and experienced IT consultants in the industry.

Brian has well over a decade of experience working as a health care IT consultant. Brian has grown MedFirst from its humble origins as a local Alabama business to a national corporation that serves hospitals both large and small across the United States.

Brian grew up in Birmingham, Alabama where he still resides. During his free time, Brian likes spending time with his family, watching sports, and playing basketball or tennis.
